This won't work, he warns her telepathically, not trusting himself to speak.
"I know that," she says. "But it's okay to pretend for a little while."
Meela leans in closer to him and abandons her voice as well. You'll help me out of this stuffy cheongsam, won't you?
Not here...
The gutted house with the dungeon below holds too many nasty memories for both of them, that's true, so Meela creates a portal to somewhere else entirely.
Junpei looks nervous about it, but that's his default expression.
He tried to learn a portal spell like that one and it went poorly.
That awkward moment when you realize you're in China.
Junpei thinks these windows have to be magic. Light is getting through, but it's not bothering Meela.
Junpei is so bad at being romantic, let's take a break to admire this picture of robins. I found the nest outside just a day before these little ones fledged.
It was less awkward than it should have been, Junpei reflects. Telepaths have no need to guess what the other person wants. They'd left their minds terrifyingly open and vulnerable.
He let Meela have what she wanted. That's all. The circumstances might not have lived up to her fantasy, but the realness of it makes up for that, sating her curiosity.
Meela has been with humans this way before, but never as an adult vampire. She is disturbed by the thrill of feeling blood rush under thin and breakable skin. The impulse to harm Junpei is almost too much to overcome. Her thumb digs under his chin painfully. "I'm... s-sorry..." She's distressed and sincere in her apology, apologizing for her violent thoughts, but still, Junpei is amused about how the 's' sound falters and lisps over her fangs.
He says nothing, trusting she won't follow through with what instinct wants her to do.
They smell like hygiene spells.
"You should put more thought into a longer lifespan," Meela suggests quietly.
"I'm not that kind of mage," Junpei answers.
"But there are ways..."
"No matter what method..." and there are many, "...the price is too high."
Just out for a little walk while Meela snoozes. The outskirts of Shang Simla are worth seeing.
Water falls from the sky.
Life as Junpei knows it can't exist without water, but it's still scary.
"You'd like to go home," she guesses, before he's said anything.
"I don't belong here."
"You could if you wanted to."
"I'm only human, Meela," he tries to steer her away from her train of thought. "I've seen the dangers of trying to be something more."
"You are already something more," she protests. Deep down she knows, even if she turned him, there's only a slim chance it wouldn't completely destroy the life she has here. The life she wants to keep, despite its limitations.
The clans would scorn a turned human.
And he wouldn't be the same.
They're never the same, after they're turned.
Meela gives up and throws her arms around the mage one more time. I will miss you. Talking! It's so inefficient. So comparatively lacking of depth and sincerity. Also difficult mid-kiss.
So she made another portal. And they never saw each other again.
"Oh... you're not dead," Finley half sits up to greet her brother when he locates the place they're staying for the night. Reve is already asleep, and she should be too, but a nagging sense of something being wrong kept her from it.
"You were concerned?"
"I had no idea where you ran off to." But it felt like somewhere far away. "Wipe that stupid look off your face."
"Not to sound like a child, but are we going home soon?"
"I have a few more interviews scheduled for tomorrow. Then we can go."
"Copy that."
"Speaking of child, though," Finley adds, "I want you to take Reve tomorrow, and get as far away from the more populated parts of the city as you can. He's struggling to handle so many people's thoughts at once."

Etc.: I installed University Life very recently and am still discovering its features. I don't know why the UL "heat of the moment" kiss included the broken heart speech bubble from Meela, but it was too amusing not to use.

Oh, I'm sad Meela and Junpei can't have a future together :( they are so sweet
ReplyDeleteIt just would not have worked out! So it's probably high time we got back to normal legacy play.
DeleteJunpei and Meela are just to sweet together. I'm so glad he got his shot at love, even though it's not meant to last. And love the smug look at the end! lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd Adore the owl shots! So neat! We have a yellow oriole that hangs around our backyard occasionally with a blue jay and a cardinal family. The color cacophony of them all usually renders me dumb enough to forget that we own a camera every time I see them all together. So kudos to your friend for getting shots!
Hehe! My boyfriend and I love bird watching. =) So it was nice of Guy to snap some pics of the owl for us.
DeleteI'm sure Junpei could chase other love if he really felt like it. The author isn't into the idea of soul mates, so a person can theoretically have as many shots as they like... ...not that my opinion comes out very much in these blogs, where my sims stick with one partner because I'm too lazy to build up several relationships, lol.
Owl! So cute!
ReplyDeleteAw, Junpei and Meela. That was so lovely, and I'm happy they had some time together.
China is gorgeous in Seasons. It makes me want to go.
Also, Kids and Explosives!!!
China is gorgeous all the time! I feel like EA really had their A-team working on the base game and World Adventures.
DeleteYay that Junpei and Meela had their *time*. What a poetic way to end that chapter of his life. Though I don't like the sound of Junepi getting older! I know it is in inevitable, but still---
ReplyDeleteJunpei makes the best faces!
Loved the owl pics. =)
Thanks! Junpei and Finley will be out of their YA stage very soon... just in time for Reve to become a teenager.
DeleteMy inner fangirl is satisfied. Thank you, Becky.
ReplyDeleteThat... is seriously all I have to say. First comment i've made in like a month cause of time, but I had to at least say THAT cause it was what my heart was yearning for, yet I strongly believed you weren't even going to let them kiss.
You're the best <3
Hey, yeah figured you'd been busy. Glad you're still enjoying the adventures of the Archers in random whim land. ^.^
DeleteI thoroughly enjoyed the owls. Also the chapter. But the owls were REALLY cute. On second thought, so was Junpei and Meela. I'm sad they will never meet again. :( All of the sad faces. ALL OF THEM!
ReplyDeleteSorries. =(
DeleteI still want Junpei and Meela babies. Please? Just one little CAS picture? Or a montage...that would be cool too.
ReplyDeleteI was going to do an April Fools where they have a kid but it's evil and takes over the world so adult Reve shows up (as a time traveler) to kill Meela before his cousin can be born.
DeleteI didn't have time to put this together though. ;D
After reading through 21 and a bit generations I finally caught up :D
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot! Thanks for reading. :> Hope you enjoy.
DeleteUhm, Reve is nice and all, but can we somehow have the next generation be one where Junpei is the heir? My heart hurts. Can't they like, change places because I am unable to adapt? (O_O)
ReplyDelete(Big, sad eyes don't travel well in pixel form expressed in English characters over the world wide web, but I can assure you they are very much in place and staring with haunting greed at the screen)
Or his half vampire kid can take over after Reve... uhh I'll just be over here, making things up in my head now. Good show.
Sorry there, not gonna happen. Meela has her life to live and Junpei has his very different one.
